History / Biographical
Gabriel (Gabor) Nyeste was one of the leaders of the Scouts of the First Kitimat Troop (Boy Scouts). He moved to Kitimat to work on the Alcan project and left in the early 60s. He passed away in Kamloops in July 2020.

Malcolm Baxter died in 2020. His father Basil, was very instrumental in the organization of Kitimat in the early years. Basil was married to Cathy Baxter and they had two sons - Malcolm and Michael.

Title based on content of photograph. Northern Sentinel Press Collection. Published Thursday, September 2, 1954. Caption: "SOME BEARS don't drive, we're told. This friendly fellow, so the story goes, offered to drive Alcan photographer Fred Ryan back to his dark room to see his picture processed. Shot was taken near newly erected Anderson Creek railway bridge, while Fred was taking progress pictures."

They are up on a platform with the bear below. it is standing upright against the platform, possibly begging. One man is crouched directly in front of the bear. Iacobelli is the fifth man from the left, wearing a cap.
