Tape two - Continued Haisla stories, copied Legaic Carpenter story 1-100, founding of Kitamaat, Haistal first translation English of Chief Jasee and Legaic. Tape 3 - Tsum-gwis story Haisla lngual 1-30, english translation 30-40, Abuux-dla-lumgwaxs story in Haisla language. English translation of Abuux-dla-lumgwaxs 1-35. Three cassette copies, three digital cd copies. Textual records consist of typewritten and hand-edited versions of the stories on the tapes, by Gisela Mendel.

Museum curator Gisela Mendel recorded Jeff Legaik (Haisla Chief) telling Haisla stories. She then transcribed the tapes, then created 'Kitamaat Stories'. The tapes were copied onto new cassettes. In 2015 the recordings were digitized onto cds.

Three cassette tapes contain recordings of Jeff Legaik speaking, telling Haisla stories. History / Biographical
This English-Haisla dictionary was assembled throughout the 1970s and early 1980s by Kitimat Centennial Museum Curator Gisela Mendel and linguist Hein 'Henry' Vink from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, with the help of numerous Haisla speakers, including Jeffrey Legaik, Amelia Grant, Kay Grant, Louise Barbetti, Melissa Woods, Irene Starr, and others.

Retained by the Kitimat Museum & Archives; formally accessioned in February 2024.

The Kitimat Chinese Association was founded in 1985. Their purpose was to connect all Chinese Canadians in Kitimat, with the local people too. They encouraged the members involved in the community to show and share Chinese culture with the people in Kitimat. Like activities in Multicultural Day, Canada Day, Canada Cancer Society's Relay of Life, etc. Every year they had three gatherings, summer picnic, Christmas and Chinese New Year. The association disbanded in December 2008 as most of the members got older and retired.

Back of letter includes member list for the association.
January 15, 1986 - Chinese New Year potluck party notice for feb 15. Includes info on entry, activities, expenses, and receipts.
New Year letter written by the association president Amy Mung thanking the members for their support and contributions, member totals, and encouraging members to get involved and support functions. Back of letter has 1985 report attached.
