Biographical Notes
Hubert Evans and his family lived amongst the Haisla in Kitimaat Village for 2 1/2 years in the late 1940s. His wife Anna taught at the day school there. Evans wrote many books, short stories, plays, and serials, including "Mist on the River," a novel about a young Gitksan man (see Notes).
A gold and brown medal at the front there is a flower and torch, the markings around the edges read "British columbia Winter Games 1981" at the back there are wheat designs by the edges with markings that read "PRINCE GEORGE MARCH 5.6.7.8" It is attached onto a red white and blue ribbon.
There is a card attached to the ribbon that lists the information of the competitor "BRITISH COLUMBIA WINTER GAMES Prince George '81 Kevin Mellor Karate P.G.S.S. ZN7," and markings at the back that read "714 938 057"
Attached under the card there is a purple ribbon that has markings that read "B.C. WINTER GAMES ZONE 7 ATHLETE PRINCE GEORGE 1981"
