A reference to this photo appears in the Northern Sentinel of October 16, 1968. The section referring to the photo states, "By an accident of geography Kitimat is headed for a part in fast-developing Pacific Rim trade. Industrial and port development in the Pacific northwest has far greater overtones than parochial advantage was the message delivered by Kitimat Chamber of Commerce president, G. W. Whitehead to special meeting of the local Chamber held last night in the Royal Canadian Legion hall. The gathering, attended by five members of the city council, a large delegation from the Terrace Chamber, also heard a specially taped recording of the speech given by Prime Minister Trudeau to the annual meeting of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce at Calgary earlier this month. In his report on the Calgary convention Mr. Whitehead emphasized an important purpose of the Kitimat delegation was to meet with these people with experience in industrial and port development and to learn a much as possible from those who have gone through what we must go through if we are to achieve the expansion we wish for our area.".
