There were more than thirty gardens that the judges carefully looked at before deciding the winner. Mr and Mrs August Smits had come in second place the previous year. They were awarded the Northern Sentinel Rose Bowl by Reeve Hallman for winning first place. The house has a white picket fence and is quite small. The yard is very neat and you can see a woman standing in it. In the background there are other houses, trees and mountains.
