Photo showing - The weather was ideal, the water main broke in Whitesail, and summer is almost over, so three young Kitimatians took this golden opportunity "to paddle their own canoe" -- in the mudhole! The three boys, L/R Robert Barratt, Harold Osborne and Gordi Birch, stripped to the waist, are seen paddling their way on a "home-made" raft.

Photograph of temporary weir in main drainage channel below Columbia Ave. bridge, taken on Saturday 23rd Nov after the heavy rain and snow. Note the debris on the structure and part of the bank scoured away. The flow of water cut down the bed of channel approximately 2' in this area.
