"The Townsite" Birds Eye View
Kitimat, B.C., Canada
Published for The Hudson's Bay Company, Canada
Reproduced from 35MM Transparency
Picture postcard showing an aerial view of the Nechako neighbourhoods under construction. In the foreground of the photo are Ptarmigan, Plover, Pintail, and Partridge streets. Behind them to the right are some trees, and to the left is an empty area where Nechako School would later be built. In the background runs Nalabila Blvd. with some of the curved streets (Starling, Swallow) running off of it. A black mark has been drawn near the upper middle of the card, indicating where the sender lived (at the 'curve' of Starling Street').
Message from sender (possibly Mike or Nancy Marciniak) on back:
"This picture of Townsite was taken last year, now the whole area is nearly filled with houses. I live near the centre where the cross is.
Three years ago this was all forest, the same as you see all around the edge of the town."
