Pan-Abode is interlocking red cedar building materials invented in 1948 in British Columbia. The builders of Kitimat chose innovative materials such as Pan-Abode for the town. Pan-Abode was used in some of the first prototype homes on Kitimat's first streets - Oriole, Pintail, and Partridge. In early June, these were waiting for completion of batching plant installation. They were used to carry concrete directly to the new smelter, townsite or any construction in progress. Batch plant location is at Gravel Mountain.
