Photograph of Lakelse Hot Springs Lodge built in 1910 by pioneers Bruce Johnstone and Hank Boss, they stand by the Lodge with their wives. They had hopes of the C.N.R. going by where today runs the new highway. The Lodge burned to the ground during the winter of 1936. Hank Boss stands at the far left and Bruce Johnstone in the center. Their wives are by them. The Lodge had ten rooms and a large bath in the lean to. People came to the springs for rest and cure that mother nature could even in those pioneer days on foot and by boat. These people were the real pioneers who prepared the way for us.

Same photo as 984.64.33 (R76-33) and 71.7.1.29. Annabelle Bolton married Woods, 2nd marriage Robinson at Hartley Bay. Amelia Gray married Grant. Hanna Morrison married Smith died 1969. Gladys Amos married Jonathon Morrison. Grace Bolton died tbc. Marian Wilson died unmarried. Kept extra photo that has marriage information.
Folder containing 7 Union Steamship Manifests from the Surf Inlet Consolodated Gold Mines Ltd with the dates August 28, 1942 and Sept 4, 11, 18, 25, 1942. Manifest of S.S. Catala from Vancouver to Butedale.
The Surf Inlet Gold Mine was located on Princess Royal Island above Surf Inlet. Limited production began in 1902 and then ceased in 1905. The mine reopened production in 1917, after major development occurred. It was then operated by the Tonapah Belmont Development Company of Philadelphia. The mine closed in 1926. Three mines were opened in 1934 by Surf Inlet Consolidated Gold Mines, including the Surf Inlet Mine, the Pugsley Mine and the Belmont Mine. These closed permanently in 1943.
