Photograph of Canada's Governor General, the Rt. Hon. Vincent Massey paid a visit to Kitimat in 1954 a few weeks after the sentinel started publication. His visit was prompted by a personal desire to see what was going on here, and he came in the days when Kitimat was receiving continent-wide publicity. His excellency is shown here in the left of centre foreground with an Alcan official. Facing the camera (centre) are Mrs.Graham Tucker of Kitimat's Anglican church. In the upper right corner is Leigh Spicer, son of Kitimat early residents, still here today, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Spicer, 60 Oriole.

Left Kitimat at the end of August 1953 to move to Montreal.
