Photograph of 30 volunteer men, and memebers of the municipal volunteer Fire Department joined the municipal fire fighting force. When fire razed the first apartment building which was in the course of internal construction damage to the building has been estimated at about $175 000 and a slightly higher figure for loss of building materials stored in the structure. Insurance adjusters are working on the loss estimates during the week. Immediate reconstruction of the 17- apartment block will commence once structural engineers approve the foundation to which little damage was done, it is thought. If is expected that prospective tenants will be delayed. Only neighbouring tent frames were damaged in the fire. These were also being used to house materials for the finishing or remaining seven apartment buildings.

Photograph of third prize winner in Alcan's annual Christmas lighting contest this year went to the A.E. Burnip home at 35 Pintail. The brilliantly lighted house featutred a display of elaborately construced and dressed snowmen on the roof of the carport. Pintail also took the street prize.

On Monday the theatre was packed with the audience waiting for more Christmas carols and skits which got everyone in the Christmas spirit. Cartoons were shown to round out the party. Photograph of an ambulance service that was inaugurated by the municipality and is now operated by the firemen in the Townsite. The service is available for serious accidents on a 24-hour day basis. Here firemen Warren Banks and fire chief Aubrey Creed demonstrate the use of a stretcher which has been fitted to the new fire box red ambulance unit. The ambulance will be fitted with a siren, radio, and a flashing red sign. Phone number for emergency calls is 110. All municipal firemen are trained first aid attendants.
