Photos of early Kitimat life, including Hans W. Harnoth and Shirley Harnoth, parents of Harry Harnoth. Hans. W. Harnoth was born in Berlin but immigrated to Kitimat after hearing about job opportunities at Alcan. Hans and Shirley Harnoth were in Kitimat from 1955-1958, and always ranted and raved about how beautiful Kitimat was and all the wonders it has to offer.

Under the direction of the Gil Pousard and Dave Allen an Alcan crew worked on this logjam at the Alcan road, until shift change Tuesday. The jam backed water up over the road north of the bridge.
Alcan smelter employees returning to work after layoffs due to plant shut down caused by a rock slide in Kemano tunnel. (Rock Fall in the Kemano Power tunnel 65' long, 140' high, and 125 cubic yards of material) cut off power to Kitimat plant. Only after a dewatering of the tunnel, was power restored.
