Mrs. Mauno Pelto, a non-resident of Kitimat., will join the judges for the elimination round to determine the three best gardens of the year. Results will be announced in The Sentinel, August 19 and prizes will be awarded at the Rotary Flower Show August 21st.

The Demelt garden is one of several well-developed efforts in the Whitesail area, putting this neighborhood in the forefront with Kildala. Judges agreed that there is a noticeable decline in garden care and upkeep in Nechako area. Mr. & Mrs. Demelt scored heavily for their use of rockeries.

Photograph of third prize winner in Alcan's annual Christmas lighting contest this year went to the A.E. Burnip home at 35 Pintail. The brilliantly lighted house featutred a display of elaborately construced and dressed snowmen on the roof of the carport. Pintail also took the street prize.
