Pan-Abode is interlocking red cedar building materials invented in 1948 in British Columbia. The builders of Kitimat chose innovative materials such as Pan-Abode for the town. Pan-Abode was used in some of the first prototype homes on Kitimat's first streets - Oriole, Pintail, and Partridge. Photograph of the Alcan maintenance men who check empty houses almost didn't find this one at 80 Starling Street on a route check, Harold Andruchow (left) and Per Johansen discovered the place practically buried in- ,guess what? Sentinel photographer Walter Suessmayor found them (above) trying to figure out where to attack. They dug through the wall showing curving from the roof and he got the second shot below.
