Two 'firsts' were recorded at this ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. R. Thompson are the first husband wife team to be elected 1st vice-presidents simultaneously and Winnie Gray is the first female Deputy Zone Commander elected to serve the Pacific Northwest Zone.
Due to elected to inclement weather the L.A. zone representive Mrs. Pat Anderson and zone commander Kaulbeck were unable to attend. Winnie Gray acted as installing officer on their behalf."

Appropriately enough, Mr. C.P. Erwin of Erwin Jewellers, the first retailer in City Centre was chosen to cut the ribbon in the opening ceremony. Above, he is handed the scissorsby Erika Rosner of Kitimat Photo."
