The Y.M.C.A. opened its doors in 1957. This lounge structure under construction is now the Community Room for the District of Kitimat Recreation Riverlodge facility.

The Y offers classes Tuesday evening of a less stresneous nature which are well attended by about 20 women. Mrs. Mary Skabo puts them through their paces that night to recorded music. A more active group is shown here as they were drilled Wednesday in proffessional style by Mrs.Tony Coppens. Y authorities say the classes are popular, the main attraction being the oppertunity to lose weight. Apart from the weight angle, it's also a fine form of relaxation!"

Nechako plays every Monday and Thursday and the 'Y' every Tuesday and Thursday. All 'Y' members may take advantage of gymnastic equipment. Special classes are conducted Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesdays from 8 to 11 p.m."
