Caption from Northern Sentinel, May 3rd 1979: "That's no bull! No, it's Jack Strickland of the Salvation Army and Kitimat Mayor George Thom letting the community know the Army is ready to charge ahead with the annual Red Shield appeal set for Monday, May 7 in Kitimat. This once a year door-to-door appeal is the single major support for the work of the Salvation Army in this area. The total goal for this area is $10,500 and the support of everyone is urgently needed."

Movie reel of early Kitimat. Super 8 and 8 mm- 400ft 120m a Kodak 884. 3 films were loaned to us from Mr. & Mrs. W. Taylor, 167, 5000 Dalhousie Dr., Calgary, Alberta. These films were all put on the Kodak 884 reel. #1 film contained 1955 Kitimat. They were then transfered to VHS

"Mrs. J.R. Thompson, 11 Heron Street, is shown receiving a certificate of Appreciation from Mr. W. Owen, President of Brand 250, Royal Canadian Legion. Mr.Owen made the presentation on behalf of Salvation Army Lt. Bill Young who was unable to attend. The citation reads "This certificate is presented in grateful appreciation of volunteer service to the community and welfare of others through the salvation Army." - Mrs. thompson, a member of the L.A. to Branch 250, has co-ordinated the Kitimat annual fund raising appeal for the Salvation Army for a number of years."
