The group of baton twirlers above are going to take part in the Dominion Day parade and a group of them will be performing a spectacular fire baton routine in the Arena in the afternoon. The girls who learn their baton twirling in a YMCA class under instructor Mrs. J.K. Thom are practising about every night. Photo showing Badmionton Night at 'Y'. Badminton is one of the most popular indoor sports in Kitimat. YMCA and Nechako Badminton Club both hold playing sessions twice a week. Nechako plays every Monday and Thursday and the 'Y' every Tuesday and Thursday. Miss Terry Coghlin, municipal employee and 1954 Queen, seen in action at 'Y' gymnasium, started playing badminton when she arrived here with her family in 1952.
