On their second trip to Alaska Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Swihart, California, camped with their trailer in Radley Park this week. They said they were impressed with the park's big trees & the salmon fishing in the nearby Kitimat River. Mr. Swihart, who is a school principal and his wife a school treacher, said they felt that they must visit Kitimat - "after reading about it & seeing it on TV in their home state.

Winning the zone championship for a third straight year the Kitimat team has been granted permission by the school board to attend the provincial playdowns to be held at Winfield in the Okanagan on April 2-3.

Photo showing Mrs. Bea Pryde proudly displays the big spring salmon she caught opposite the Sandhill Monday. The big fellow weighed in at 41-3/4 pounds and to date is the second largest fish registered in the Salmon Derby. Mrs. Pryde used a 16 pound test line to land the fish.

Photo showing Kitimat Rod and Gun Club's annual July 1 Salmon Derby last Sunday was a whopping success. A total of 48 fish were registered at the official weigh-in scales at the club. Pictured above is George Greening with the two beauties he caught.
On the scales is a 23 pounder while George holds a 26-1/2 dandy.
