Tower, first to be erected by British Columbia Hydro crews, went up this week on the flats behind the Alcan works smelter area. Tidewater contracting company are now winding up clearing operations on the right of way for the power line to Terrace and expect to finish the job by the end of August.

Photograph of with the outer housing of the turbine in place, work proceeds with the installation of generator 8 in Alcan's Kemano Powerhouse, which will increase cpacity from the present 784,000 kilowatts to close to 98,000 kilowatts (1,200,000 H.P). The instillation of Generator 8 is being carried out by Mattias & Nicol, general contractors of Vancouver B.C. Employees of Canadian Westinghouse are now on site and are erecting the generator. Work began early in February with completion date for September.
