his spectacular belly flop and cannonball dives. Alex Loker (front right) who can’t swim, took top
honours in the best costume event, not so much for his outfit but for best impersonation as a swimmer.
Bill Dauphinee, last year’s champion, and Mike Whelan and Brian McCallum did their best but didn’t
pull off any wins this year."

Construction, which involves an 11 and a half mile tunnel though solid rock to the main ore body, has been practically halted since February over a labour dispute. The towns population is now fast slipping from it's winter high of 750 as workmen move away.
