"MIKE TOPP (front left) took two out of the three trophies up for grabs in the Belly Flop Contest with
his spectacular belly flop and cannonball dives. Alex Loker (front right) who can’t swim, took top
honours in the best costume event, not so much for his outfit but for best impersonation as a swimmer.
Bill Dauphinee, last year’s champion, and Mike Whelan and Brian McCallum did their best but didn’t
pull off any wins this year."

Photograph of the Granduc Mine, 32 miles from Stewart, was viewed last Friday by Joe Banyay of Kitimat and the other directors of Skeena "B" Regional District. Construction, which involves an 11 and a half mile tunnel though solid rock to the main ore body, has been practically halted since February over a labour dispute. The towns population is now fast slipping from it's winter high of 750 as workmen move away.

Photograph of the five storey Prince George General Hospital, designed by the Thompson, Berwick and Pratt of Vancouver, is scheduled for completion late in 1959. Tenders for the $2, 300, 000 project will likely be called this month. Accommodation for 125 beds will be provided with sufficient space for later expansion to 165 beds. Hospital plant services are designed for 200 beds. To be built as a separate structure is a 54 bed nurses residence, cost of which is included within the overall project estimate.
