Photo showing the largest ocean going freighter ever built in Canada slipped gracefully down the ways at the Davie Shipbuilding yard in Lauzon, Que, on June 21st 1954, christened the s/s "Sunrip", she is the 1st Vessel to be built especially for the Jamaica - Kitimat alumina trade. Launching S.S. "Sunrip" named after R.E. Powell - President of the Aluminum Company of Canada.
