Photo showing Front view of the first prize garden in the 1965 Sentinel garden competition shows the fine, grassed boulevard which is the crowning touch to the property, at 31 Kitlope, home of Mr. & Mrs. Fred W. Pohl and family. Judges this year commented on the number of fine gardens, and those that missed because a boulevard had been left untended or work has been concentrated on either front or back garden but not both. Judges recommened the municipality give a lead in a progressive program of boulevard seeding to improve general appearance of the residential areas.

Demelt, 45 White Street, 2nd Prize Garden Contest Winner, a $15 certificate donated by the Hudson's Bay Company in the 12th Annual Sentinel Garden Competition on the weekend. The Demelt garden is one of several well-developed efforts in the Whitesail area, putting this neighborhood in the forefront with Kildala. Judges agreed that there is a noticeable decline in garden care and upkeep in Nechako area. Mr. & Mrs. Demelt scored heavily for their use of rockeries.

Jennings at 92 Babine. Mr. & Mrs. Jennings have won honorable mention in past contests for their garden. One of the finest in Kildala, it has helped that neighborhood maintain a lead place in the past few competitions.

The idea of a Telethon was agreed on and a committee was formed. Each year the Telethon executive receives requests from the different non-profit organizations within our own community. They then decide on how to disburse the funds raised that year. after the letters of requests are reviewed and a brief presentation is made to the board of directors explaining how the money received will be spent.
