Photograph of US Air Force sent from Prince Rupert to Spider Island to man the fortifications against an expected attack by the Japanese. They travelled on a ship from Prince Rupert, a construction crew and 80 American servicemen. There was a terrible storm and they were all seasick and expected the ship to go down any minute. They wallowed around in the Pacific for 3 days before reaching Spider Island. He was 16 years old at the time.

"A major highlight of the 1966 Pacific National Exhibitation will be daily free performances by the 60 piece Training Concert Band of the Royal Canadian Air Fore from Winnipeg, seen above. The world-renowned band, which will come to Vancouver directly from tour of European and African countries, will be heard at all 19 performances of the new free Empire Stadium Show. It will also take part in the spectacular Pacific National Exhibitation Parade in downtown Vancouver. Augsut 20, and will participate in the ofrficial opening ceremonies the same day. The 1966 Pacific National Exhibitation runs from August 20 through September 5 and will celebrate the British Columbia Centenary with "Centennail Jamboree."
