Photo showing Hans Peterson, 59 Finch Street, Kitimat, B.C., is shown carving the transom for his 34 foot fishboat, the "Mermaid". Launched at Minette Bay on the Douglas Channel in May, 1963, the Mermaid was built by Mr. Petersen in his back yard. It took four years to build and was originally intended as a commercial fishing vessel but altered to serve as a family pleasure boat. For story, see "Boat Building" on page one and page 4, The Northern Sentinel issue of April 25, 1963.
